Now that Windows 7 is officially out, here are a few tricks to make your life easier with Microsoft’s “refined” operating system.
Keyboard Shortcuts (not applicable for multi-touch users unless you have a keyboard as well):
Most of us still rely on keyboard shortcuts to accomplish tasks more quickly. With Windows 7, Microsoft has introduced a few new keyboard shortcuts:
- Minimize an active window: Press the Windows key + Down arrow.
- Pin an active window to the side: Press the Windows key + Left arrow or Right arrow.
- Maximize an active window: Press the Windows key + Up arrow.
- Restore a maximized window: Press the Windows key + Down arrow. Press once more to minimize.
- Stretch a window vertically (applicable only when the window is in standard position): Press the Windows key + Shift + Up arrow.
- Minimize all windows: Press the Windows key + M.
- Restore all minimized windows: Press the Windows key + Shift + M.
- View all windows in a 3D view: Press the Windows key + Tab. While holding the Windows key, press the Tab key again to scroll down, or press Shift + Tab to scroll the other way. Release the keys to view the current window or click on the window you’d like to access for ease.
